A bar where heartbroken people can cry as they drown their sorrows is proving a big success in eastern China.
It even provides onions and red peppers for those who need help bursting into tears, the China Daily reported. The Nanjing bar charges C$8.45 an hour, on top of the charge for drinks, for customers to cry into their beer. Tissues and menthol drops are also provided.
Bartenders play sad music and dolls are available for customers to throw around or beat while they vent their anger at a broken relationship. The owner, Luo Jun, used to run a marriage agency only to discover that many of his clients had an immense desire to cry but could not find the oppoortunity - the idea for the bar was born.
So is Vancouver ready for a bar called Tears, where everybody not only knows your name but your sad story as well?
Bruce McGregor, the general manager of Jesters and Smiley O'Neal's in downtown Vancovuer does not think so.
"We have some who come in to cry in their beer but they will only pay the $4.75 for the pint," he said. "I don't think we are ready for a Cry Bar here yet," he said.
